Benjamin Hallatt lives in Nottingham (UK) and has been obsessing over electronic music from a young age. Labels born out of a passion for ambient music such as Rising High and Mille Plateaux became firm favourites which provided starting points from where he could begin to follow the development of electronica in Europe through the nineties and into the present. Benjamin began to explore the world of tape recorders and field recordings with the help of good friend Dallas Simpson (and/OAR/Emit) who is known as being one of the early pioneers of binaural recording processes. With a little guidance and also from listening to the output of labels such as Komplott his new fascination flourished and taped recordings became the foundation for the edited montages of SCKE//.

“As far as technology goes I like to keep it very simple. I have settled into a process of microphone and tape recordings which I edit and manipulate. Apart from this equipment I use a very dated step sequencer for composing these recordings. As the winter months draw in I expect to be picking up the tape decks once again.”
