"When I was fourteen, around the time acid house was breaking out, I used to
beat match cassettes with a reel-to-reel recorder on a four track in my
bedroom using little more than DJ breakbeat vinyl recorded onto tape
and a Yamaha PSS-780. I still have some of the resulting sounds and
even today they sound like dirty underground loops and Aphex influenced
tracks. I used to create my own loops using just the pause button on a
double-deck stereo. In 1991, I woke up to what was going on in London
through Colin Dale's Monday night show on KissFM, especially 'Outer
Limits'. There was a lot of interesting and varied techno around then. I would miss sleep just to stay up and listen all the way to the end of
the show, and so I started buying artists like Terrace (Djax Holland),
Richie Hawtin's F.U.S.E (+8 Records), Lory D etc, and upon hearing
Aphex's Digeridoo as a demo DAT on Colin Favor's show, I have never
looked back."
After a small stint away from music making and just DJing in London,
